Malkin Added To All-Star Game

The National Hockey League announced Tuesday that Evgeni Malkin has been added to the Eastern Conference roster for the All-Star Game to be played in Atlanta on Sunday.

Malkin leads the Penguins with 26 goals and nine power-play goals. He currently ranks second with 56 points (26+30) in 48 games played. Malkin’s point total ranks tied for ninth in NHL scoring.

Sidney Crosby will miss the All-Star Game due to a high ankle sprain he suffered on Jan. 18 in a game vs. Tampa Bay. Crosby was selected to the starting lineup after leading all vote-getters (507,274) for the second straight season in fan balloting.

“I am honored to be selected to the All-Star Game and have the opportunity to play with some of the best players in the NHL,” stated Malkin. “It is unfortunate that Sidney will not be able to participate, however, I look forward to playing in the game and representing the Penguins organization.”
