Top 40 Songs This Week.....

Finally, this week's countdown focused on this week in 1985. I was so thrilled to find out 85 was the year, but the countdown wasn't the greatest. The top 3 was enough to make me vomit, especially #2. Phil Collins is enough to ruin any countdown, but add Sting to the mix and it's very dreadful. Here are the songs:

OMG! What a great list! Di and I didn't recognize all of these, and admittedly I recognized a few more than Di did, but wow, this takes me back. TFF are still around, by the way, a bit less melancholy. Loved Power Station; too bad they only had 1 album. Sadly, this list is missing XTC, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, and Erasure, but I guess that was more UK alternative than AT40. I remember hearing another awful Phil Collins song, Against All Odds. Both the movie and the song were just awful. The only thing I want to feel coming in the air tonight is a swift axe, hacking off the neck of Phil Collins and taking Whitney along for the ride. Clearly rock had died by 1985, with few exceptions. But even Canadian rocker Brian Adams was on his way to doing sappy love songs. Sigh...
