Steelers Release Ten Players; Trim Roster To 75


PITTSBURGH — The Steelers released 10 players today, including three rookies and one seven-year veteran, as they trimmed their roster to 75 players.

Seventh-year running back Kevan Barlow was released after being signed by the team earlier this year. Among the rookies released were wide receiver Eric Fowler, defensive end Derrick Jones and long snapper Jared Retkofsky.

The Steelers also released second-year running back Larry Croom and five first-year players, including punter Mike Barr, kicker Connor Hughes, linebacker Richard Koonce, center Donovan Raiola and wide receiver Dan Sheldon.

NFL teams must trim their rosters to 53 players by 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1. Teams may sign up to eight players to their practice squad after noon on Sunday, Sept. 2.
